Enjoying ocean swimming with these shorts, I ordered a M as normally size 30/32 and they are quite tight.
Still probably better tight than loose but slightly more room would be probably good as easier to get into.

I’m so impressed with my new Propel Buoyancy Shorts. After three years of swimming squad training being the only bloke in my lane not wearing buoyancy shorts my wife bought me a 2XU pair for my birthday. The shorts are fantastic. Fit well, comfortable, great buoyancy, streamlined and beautifully made.
